PROTECS Names Marc Blackwelder as Director of Operations, Southeast Region
Brings more than 18 years’ experience managing construction projects in the high-tech and life sciences markets
Plymouth Meeting, PA and Raleigh, NC – November 29, 2022 – PROTECS, a leading full-service project and construction management company, is pleased to announce Marc Blackwelder’s promotion to Director of Operations, Southeast Region.
Through its unique, collaborative and innovative delivery method and service offerings, utilizing its patented Target Costing® design/build project delivery approach, PROTECS acts as an extension of its clients’ organizational structure. PROTECS supports real estate consulting and site selection, master planning, design, pre-construction and construction, commissioning, and validation services.

With over 18 years of experience in construction management, Marc is capable of managing multiple projects while maintaining individualized client relationships and familiarity working with both client-owned and tenant-leased facilities and property negotiations. His in-depth knowledge and experience of the high-tech and life sciences markets, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, semiconductor and research and development, makes him an asset to both PROTECS and the Southeast Region as a whole.
Marc will be responsible for leading the regional office based in Raleigh, North Carolina through all project phases including design, scheduling, estimating, procurement, cost control, construction, safety, quality, commissioning and validation, to ensure compliance with clients’ strategic performance, budget, and schedule objectives. He will also oversee daily office and site operations, development and execution of new project opportunities, and the implementation and maintenance of operational procedures.
Prior to his promotion, Marc served as the PROTECS project executive for the design and construction of a note-worthy $185 MM, 156,000-square-foot pandemic greenfield building that will manufacture vaccines for the US.

Marc received his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from East Carolina University and Associate of Business Management from Cape Fear Community College. Additionally, Marc is a member of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) Carolina-South Atlantic Chapter and former Airborne Infantry Platoon Sargent for the United States Army.
