PROTECS Names Michael Carey as Director, Utah Office and Intermountain/West Coast Operations
Brings more than 20 years’ experience managing high-tech construction projects in the life sciences, mission critical and industrial market sectors
Plymouth Meeting, Penn. and Salt Lake City, Utah, August 29, 2020 – PROTECS, a leading full-service project and construction management company, is pleased to announce that Michael Carey has joined the company as Director of its Salt Lake City, Utah office and head of its Intermountain and West Coast operations.

Mike has spent 20 years managing multiple projects and teams across a diverse cross-section of market sectors and geographies. Prior to joining PROTECS, Mike served as a Director overseeing multiple projects in Utah along the Wasatch Front and previously across the United States in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and northern California. Mike relocated to Utah in 2011 as a Senior Project Manager on the Utah Data Center project, overseeing the design and construction of the data center buildings. Prior to Utah, he lived in the Washington D.C. area running major portions of large projects like the new Walter Reed and the NIH Clinical Research Center. Mike’s experience includes over 12 years in a leadership position on projects utilizing collaborative delivery contracting methods such as design-build, CM/GC, and Integrated Project Delivery.
Mike received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Alfred University and currently serves on the University’s Board of Trustees. Additionally, Mike is a board member of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), previously serving as the President of the Utah Chapter.
In 2014, PROTECS began actively working in the Intermountain region. Several years later, the Company opened a regional office in Salt Lake City, Utah, establishing itself as the partner of choice for existing—and new—high-tech, regulated clients in the Utah market.
